Deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi commented on recent statements by the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Timur Suleimenov.
In particular, Suleimenov said that Kazakhstan “will comply with the sanctions” against Russia, as well as the non-recognition of the LPR and DPR by our republic.
Journalists asked Tleuberdi whether all of the above was just Suleimenov’s personal position.
- Was the interview given by Suleimenov agreed or is it his personal opinion?
First, he is an official. Naturally, he gave interviews at the request of journalists of a foreign publication.
- That is, this is an agreed position, the position of the state?
- At the moment we do not recognize both the Luhansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic. All sanctions are directed against Russia by the European Union and the United States, we do not join these sanctions, but two points are very important for us. Firstly, so that there is no negative impact of these sanctions on the development of the economy of Kazakhstan; secondly, that our territory should not be used to circumvent these sanctions.
