According to the law, there is only one state language in Kazakhstan, but the use of the Russian language, according to our legislation, cannot be hindered, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said in his message to the people of the country, Qazweek.kz reports.
The harmonious development of interethnic relations has always been and will be one of the main directions of state policy. This is not just rhetoric. This approach is supported by the absolute majority of Kazakhstanis, – said Tokayev.
He recalled that for our citizens, consent, tolerance is life itself, reality itself, due to the interpenetration of cultures and languages. We are a single nation according to the Constitution. And this is our unconditional strength. While maintaining a pluralism of opinions, we will at the same time strongly suppress any form of radicalism. We will not allow encroachment on our state sovereignty, territorial integrity, ”the head of state emphasized.
According to him, all citizens should understand the importance of interethnic and interfaith relations, therefore in Kazakhstan they do not allow humiliating a person by his language, nationality, race, insulting someone else’s honor.
We will be held accountable according to the law. Such irresponsible anti-constitutional steps are detrimental to the country’s basic interests. The development of the Kazakh language remains one of the priority directions of state policy. There is a result in this area. In general, the scope of the state language is expanding. This is a natural phenomenon, therefore there is no reason to believe that the field of the Kazakh language is limited. By law, there is only one state language in Kazakhstan. The Russian language has the status of an official language. Its use, according to our legislation, cannot be hindered, – concluded Tokayev.
